Wedding Workshop Introduction

I've been working on an introduction to wedding planning workshop I call "Weducation Workshop" by Amy Rubins. With over twelve years experience planning extraordinary weddings for CEO's of Fortune 500 companies, I am well qualified to present my course for those interested in exploring a career in wedding planning.

I'm happy to say official registration opens Monday, February 15, 2010. Details, course schedule and registration will be found on my website Fete Perfection. Here's a sneak peak at the course:

The first workshop will be an intensive one day course on a Saturday in March. We will begin at 7:30 AM in my studio in Northwind Lofts at 2400 North Second Street Suite 101 just outside downtown Minneapolis. A continental breakfast and lunch and wedding notebook will be included in registration fees.

I promise a full day of mind-boggling details and thought-provoking challenges. At the end of the day two lucky people will be chosen to work with my team on our upcoming wedding in April. Watch for complete details and registration next Monday.

I just love following the Lazy Bride's blog written by my friend, Larissa Banning. It's full of honest and insightful information for not only brides but planners and other wedding pro's alike.

Fete Perfection Weducation Workshop

I am pleased to announce that beginning in March, 2010 Fete Perfection will offer an introduction to wedding planning for those interested in exploring this as a career. These workshops will be broken down into intensive four hour classes covering a variety of specialized topics.

For example the "Business Side of the Wedding Business" workshop covers a variety of areas such as branding, marketing, insurance, advertising and the legalities involved with establishing a successful company. Attendees will hear experts offer advice, recommendations and resources for the planner exploring a start-up business.

Another workshop will cover Wedding Dreams and turning them into reality. In this workshop we will discuss the design process and the resources needed to create a memorable wedding. This will be an interactive class with the opportunity to create a tabletop design of your own.

These are examples of just two of the many workshops we'll be offering throughout 2010. Watch for details and registration for the first workshop in February, 2010. Classes begin in March.

Green Weddings Just Make Cents

For over a year now I have been networking with local wedding professionals who may have varying opinions about "global warming", especially as most of the world experiences ridiculously abnormal cold weather. However, whether global warming is a reality or a really great hoax, it just makes sense to be good stewards of our planet.

Why not hope that prudence now, pays off for generations to follow? Why deliberately trash our planet just to see the movie Wall-E turn into reality? We'd be pretty short-sighted and selfish to continue on that path of destruction. So what to do?

One proposal I have is to really think through every decision you make during your wedding planning and to seek out professionals who share the same philosophy as you about wasteful weddings. What are some ways to think green you ask? I'll outline them over the next coming weeks - but let me start with the one which will have the biggest impact - slash your guest list.

Think about it - nothing will reduce your budget more than inviting fewer guests - for every 8 guests attending you add a table, chairs, centerpiece, place settings, linens, food, beverage and other miscellaneous expenses such as favors. That's just for starters.
